yacht-based skiing

In high and low latitudes, yachts bring myriad benefits to the most adventurous skiers. They allow access to remote mountain ranges that would otherwise be off-limits, hundreds of miles from the nearest road or airport, but they also offer comfort, support and even luxury in the polar wilderness.

For groups consisting of skiers and non-skiers, a yacht-based expedition can be designed to appeal to everyone, making it ideal for a big celebration trip. Wildlife from whales to polar bears and walruses complements dramatic scenery and plenty of other experiences can be laid on.

The Arctic's highlights, Greenland and Svalbard, are only accessible by sea and and Norway's mainland coast - Lyngen, Tromso and the Lofoten Islands - is easier to explore by boat than by car. Just below the Arctic Circle, British Columbia's deep fjords sit beneath some fabulous heliskiing terrain. In the southern hemisphere, Patagonia offers incredible skiing but also a multitude of other things to see and do, while Antarctica might be the ultimate skiing pilgrimage.
